A Night Out – Gemutlichkeit – Polka Time
Produced at CKCO-TV from 1975 until 1989
A televised polka dance party started in 1975 as “Gemutlichkeit” with host Dave Crichton. From there for a short time it became “A Night Out” but would eventually become “Polka Time”. Early hosts of Polka Time were Bob Bratina and then Johnny Walters but eventually Walter Ostanek took over the hosting duties. Through the 14 years that the show ran in various forms, Walter Ostanek and his band were the driving force of the show. Many notable guests who were featured on the shows included “America’s Polka King” Frankie Yankovic, crooner Keath Barrie, Murray McFadgen, Joey Miskulin and many others.
