William James Pitcher

At his residence, on Sunday, January 7, 1990, W.J. Pitcher, of Waterloo, age 76 years.
Mr. Pitcher was the music critic for the Kitchener-Waterloo Record for 36 years before his retirement. Following his retirement he was music editor for CFCA-FM with bi-weekly broadcasts. He was also a longtime member of International Music Critics Association.
Beloved husband of Rosemary (Scanlan); dear father of Maureen and her husband Victor Sawa of Kitchener, James and his wife Dianne of Waterloo, Dr. Harrison (Harry) and his wife Laura of Ottawa. Also sadly missed by his grandson, Jake Sawa. Brother of George of Kitchener and Hugh of Leamington.
He was predeceased by his mother Alice of Ayr in 1959 and by his father, Harry, who was killed in action in the Battle of Courcelette near Ypres, France in 1916.
Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W. Kitchener, today (Tuesday), from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be said at 8 p.m. Prayers will be offered at the funeral home at Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s RC Church, with Rev. L. Keasey and Rev. R. Liddy officiating. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.
Reception to follow in the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Centre.
