Ron “Woody” Woodworth
March 17, 1940 – January 28, 2025

On January 28th, Ron passed from this earthly planet, to coach a Heavenly hockey team composed of former Toronto Maple Leafs. He is predeceased by his parents, Frances and Charles Woodworth, Eric Cechetto, his son John Woodworth (Kim), and step-daughter Lynda Woodworth.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Woodworth, his daughter Rhonda Webber (Kevin), step-children, Rick Williams (Carolyn), Dianne Hobson (Randy), Cynthia Colbeck (Richard), Tony Woodworth (Sia Maniatacos), Robb Woodworth, sisters, Heather Gillingham (Gordon), Joan Deering (Darryl), Carmelita Cechetto-Shea (Stephen Shea), brothers-in-law Tom Clapp (Janet), Doug Clapp (Deb), sister in law, Mary Ann Millar (Ron), grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as loving nieces and nephews.

Born in Cape Breton, Ron moved to Trenton to join the Canadian Air Forces. He then moved to Welland to work at various radio stations and then to Kitchener at other radio stations. He worked as a mechanic at Uniroyal and then in sales at Zepf Tech. before starting his own business, “Roncan Services Inc.” selling new and used packaging machinery. For a brief period, he also started a retail store called “Shelf Sense” in Stanley Park Mall, selling wire covered custom shelving for closets.

He was an avid sports fan and coached and managed a variety of hockey and fastball teams. Later years found him umpiring slow-pitch, marshalling at River’s Edge golf course or enjoying a game of golf with friends. He loved the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs despite the lack of a Stanley Cup.

Ron’s family will receive relatives and friends from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Celebration of life will follow visitation in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
