Renata Van Loon-Palmateer
1966 – 2024

With family by her side, Renata Tamara Van Loon Palmateer quietly passed away to eternal peace at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Friday January 26,2024. Renata was a loving and devoted mother to her three sons Cash, Tate and Race. Her boys were the center of her life.

Predeceased by her parents William and Irmgard Van Loon, Renata is survived by siblings Alexander, Sabina, Torin and Damian, and many nieces and nephews.

Renata had a zeal for life and saw adventure and opportunity everywhere. Her early career was in television where she took on a variety of roles. Children and teaching were her passion so she moved on to becoming an Early Childhood Educator. Renata taught in a variety of schools in Chatham-Kent and many children were blessed to be taught and loved by such an enthusiastic and inclusive educator.

Renata loved the outdoors and found joy being at the lake soaking up the sun. She enjoyed hiking, biking, camping and making memories with her boys. She lived her life fully, always with energy and enthusiasm. Renata’s motto was “be kind’.

Special thanks to Torin and Gia for being there for Renata and the boys and making these last few months possible. Thank you also to the medical and nursing staff at LHSC London Regional Cancer Program, CKHA Oncology Department, Chatham-Kent Hospice, Bluewater Health Care and VON.

Visitation is Tuesday January 30, 2024 from 6:00-8:00pm and the Funeral is Wednesday January 31, 2024 at 11:00am. Both will take place at McKinlay Funeral Home 141 Park St Blenheim.
