Ori Siegel
March 18, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ori Siegel (Ori Ben Tzvi Ve Malka), VA3ORI, son of Harvey and Malka z’l, brother to David (Leslie) , Josh (Susan) , and Ken (Susie) , proud and adoring uncle to Daniel, Derek Zac, Julia, Carly, Ellie, Emma and Shauna. Retired after a long career at CBC, Ori has enthusiastically and generously shared his time, passion and expertise with countless visitors and tourists and colleagues at the Ontario Science Centre HAM Amateur Radio Station and Toronto Rail Museum and with the talented and dedicated members, actors and musicians of the Scarborough Music Theatre. Ori’s resume as Musical Director and in other capacities in numerous successful and acclaimed community theatre productions at SMT and elsewhere, including Gilbert and Sullivan at St. Anne’s in Toronto and Buxton U.K over the years is extensive and remarkable.
An avid traveler, Ori maintained and cherished numerous longstanding friendships, long distance, local, online, on air and IRL, and loved nothing more than the company of friends and family, fuelled by large mugs of hot coffee and laughter, telling and retelling familiar tales of travel, adventure, and misadventure with enduring passion and humour.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice to celebrate Ori’s life and generosity of spirit.
He will be greatly missed.
