Don Farr
November 9, 2016

Donald Ian Farr died on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Riverside Glen.  Born on December 20, 1921 in the family farmhouse on the edge of Guelph, Don grew up enjoying the outdoors and helping with the family dairy “Buy Farr the Better Milk”.  Survived by his loving wife, Barbara and devoted dog, Gus.  Deeply missed by daughter Virginia Kirkpatrick, son-in-law Jay and grandson Dane.  Predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Mary Farr (nee McKinley), stepmother Florence Farr (nee McKinley) and sisters Margaret (Story) Leith and Elizabeth (Edwin) Wye.

After working for the family dairy, Don studied electronics in NYC and worked as a cameraman at the CKCO-TV station in Kitchener, where he met Barbara.  They went on the run a successful business together, Don Farr Television Ltd. for 25 years.  One of Don’s greatest joys was returning to the family farm where he and Barbara have made their home for the past 40 years. Don was a faithful member of Guelph and Mountain Grove Christadelphian Ecclesias, and often encouraged others to seek out God’s plan in the Bible.  At Don’s request, a private family service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph.  Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 519-822-0051 or www.wallcustance.com.

A tree will be planted in memory of Donald I. Farr in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:30 pm.
