Wendell Tucker

Wendell Barry Lyn Tucker of Phoenixville was born to Stanley Leroy and Myrtle Louise Outerbridge Tucker on March 5, 1942 in Bermuda.

He went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2011 at Meadow Springs in Norristown, PA.

Wendell was educated in Bermuda, attending Sandy’s Secondary School, graduating in 1958. He continued his education in television, radio operations and production at RCA Institute of New York. He worked at ZBM Radio and TV Bermuda, CKCO-TV and CTV Canada Network Operations, ZFB TV Bermuda as production director, cinematographer and editor. He was the first Black at the Bermuda Department of Tourism, working throughout the United States. He owned and managed Tucker’s Taxi Services from 1994 to 1997 in Bermuda.

From 1997 to the present, he worked at various hotels as assistant general manager, operations manager and executive housekeeper.

He loved his church and church family and was former president of the trustee board. He loved all sports, reading and cooking.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Audrey, two daughters, Chaquita Tarnock Patrick and Shaunee’ Tucker; stepdaughters, Sonya Tavares Wayne, Karen Lawrence; stepsons, Todd Lawrence Collette and Charles Lawrence Tera; two grandsons, Matari and Cumari Tannock of Bermuda; thirteen stepgrandchildren and two step great grandchildren; brothers, Archie, Lee Bradlyn and Webster Nell Tucker.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Keith, Kimball and Voorhees Tucker and one sister, Jeanette Tucker Burt.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
