Vic Folliott
1947 – April 21, 2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Victor James Folliott on April 21, 2023, due to complications following a seizure, surrounded by love and family.

Vic will be remembered for his dedication to his family and friends. He was the proud father of Kim (Matt), Shannon, Cheralin (Owen), and Brad (Vicki). He was a loving husband to his late wife, Catherine, and the absolute best Grandpa to Zachary, Freya and Grace. Vic will be missed by so many, including his family, his loving partner Glenda, wonderful friends, many of whom are from the radio community he dedicated his career to, the Rotary Club, and the various arts and culture programs he was involved with for many years.

Vic grew up in Richmond Hill with his parents and brother Larry. He loved reminiscing about the family’s Summit View Gardens restaurant. He played football and was a high school track and field star, and later a coach for his son’s baseball team.

Vic loved life. He walked with a smile and warmth in his eyes felt by everyone he met. He loved to support his community and thoroughly enjoyed attending theatre, festivals and live music. Vic was genuine in all he did. Anyone who crossed paths with him enjoyed his unwavering kindness and support in their lives.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Donations in tribute to Vic to the Rotary Foundation (Canada), Lisaard & Innisfree House, or rare Charitable Research Reserve are welcomed and appreciated.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519 772-1237.

Vic Folliott, A Founder of The Grand, Passes Away
Centre Wellington, ON, Canada / Grand 101.1 FM

One of the founders of The Grand at 101 has passed away. Vic Folliott passed away on Thursday surrounded by his family. Scott Jensen, President of The Grand at 101, said “Vic was a solid guy. He was well liked by everyone he met and was one of those people that never had a bad thing to say about anyone.” Jensen went on to say “He enjoyed his life, and I certainly enjoyed the time I spent with him over the years.”

Vic had a long career in broadcasting with one of his biggest accomplishments being the launch of BX 93 in London. “He was always proud of being the one to launch BX 93 as a Country radio station. It is still on air today and one of the most successful country formats,” Jensen said.

Vic then worked many years at Great Lakes Broadcasting CKGL 96.7, as the Operations Manager, which was bought by Rogers and is now CHYM 96.7. Folliott was also the General Manager at CKWR FM in Kitchener for several years.

When Folliott left CKWR, he and Jensen decided to work together to bring a community radio station to Centre Wellington. Although the original idea was the Listowel area, Vic felt Centre Wellington was a better fit. After the station hit the airwaves, Vic was the General Manager for several years and also did sales.

When he retired from The Grand in September of 2020, he did a volunteer show at RogersTV in Kitchener, and a few other small projects.

Vic was a kind, gentle man, and cared about everyone. All of us at The Grand will miss him dearly.
