“Terry Thomas” Brulé

Thomas John Terence Brulé, (Terry Thomas, Professional Name), 58, Starr’s Point Road, Port Williams, Kings County, died Wednesday, January 5, 2000, at home. Born in Ottawa, he was the son of the late Jules and Gwendlyn (Ogilvie) Brulé.

In 1965 he joined the news department of CKCO-TV as a reporter as well as holding positions as News Anchor and Acting News Director. During this time he also spent four years as director of public relations for the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society. Between 1978 and 1982 he taught broadcast journalism at Georgian College of Applied Arts and Technology in Barrie, Ontario. During this time, he worked as News Anchor at CKVR-TV. He also narrated, and in some cases provided “on camera” talent, for over 200 industrial training videos for such companies as The Royal Bank of Canada, The Bank of Nova Scotia, Toronto Dominion Bank, Shell Oil, etc. and was a self employed narrator, actor and announcer having a multitude of roles in a variety of movies and television programs produced in the Toronto area. In 1990 he became Director of Operations for CKAN Radio in Newmarket, Ontario and in 1992 was employed as a Newscaster and Open-Line Host with Annapolis Valley Radio, Kentville using the professional name of Terry Thomas and often was guest speaker at a number of service clubs including, Rotary, Lions and the Royal Canadian Legion.

He is survived by his wife, the former Heather MacIvor, formerly of Kentville; two sons, David and wife Andrea Brulé, Barrie, Ontario; Hunter Brulé, Wolfville; daughter, Amy Underhill, New Zealand; sister, Denise (Mrs. Richard Kadatz), Penticton, BC. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2000 in the W. C. Hiltz Funeral Chapel, Kentville, Reverend Doctor Philip Griffin-Allwood officiating.

Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
