Su McKillop
September 26, 1950 – September 14, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Susan “Su” Betty May McKillop, aged 74, who passed away peacefully on September 14th, 2025, with her devoted husband by her side.

Su was born on September 26th, 1950, in London, England, to David and Doris Hinkins. She grew up in the heart of Whitechapel, and made Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada her home in 1960, before settling in Kitchener, Ontario in 1980.

Throughout her early adult years, Su explored a number of industries, but she found her professional home in broadcasting. She spent much of her career at CKCO-TV in Kitchener, and later at CTV, Bell Media in Toronto, where she retired as the Director of Revenue Management — a role she approached with intelligence, integrity, and leadership.

Su will be remembered most for her warmth, her infectious sense of humour, and the deep love she had for her family. She was a passionate and talented quilter and gardener, whose creativity bloomed in everything she touched. Her generosity, kindness, and quiet strength left a mark on everyone who knew her.

Su was predeceased by her parents, her brother Alan Hinkins, and her beloved uncle Clifford Thomas.

She is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband of 45 years, John Richard “Rick” Hutt; her sister, Lynn Hinkins; her children, David and Tracey McKillop, and their partners, Valerie and Jason; her grandchildren, Ashley and Meaghan, and their partners, Kevin and Jake; and her great-grandchildren, Harlow and Everleigh. Su is also lovingly remembered by the Rosales Family, the Bernard Family, the LoPatriello Family, the Brown Family, her Quilting Mafia Family, her Music Family, and her TV Family — all of whom were so special to her.

Family and friends may visit Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre on Sunday, October 5th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a Service of Remembrance at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Su’s memory may be made to Cuddle + Kind Canada. Cuddle + Kind creates hand-knit dolls for children. Their social mission is to provide meals to children in need. For every doll sold, cuddle + kind donates 10 meals to partner organizations around the world. They also support fair trade and ethical working conditions for the artisans who make the dolls.

Su will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. She will only be a happy memory away.
